John Bolsar, Peter Kohan, Wayne Olsen, David Philp, Stuart Sullivan and Harry Weinger created Movie MashUps through email in 2001, each pal trying to one up the other with funnier, cleverer (is that a word?) MashUps.  “The Rule” helped make finding newer and better Movie MashUps an even more addicting habit, one they had to share with the world.

John Bolsar

John was born one winter morning long, long ago in the prospering metropolis known as Cleveland, OH. An avid music fan since birth, John spent 10 of his formative years managing record stores before joining the actual music business in 1994, doing marketing and sales for Universal Music. He moved himself up through the ranks throughout the '90s, relocating to Cincinnati, then Minneapolis, and then New York City. After 3.5 years as Director of Sales at Universal Music Enterprises, John moved to Atlanta for a new position with Warner Music Group in late 2003. With the rapid decline of the music business, John relocated permanently to his beloved New York City in July of 2007 and now serves as Vice President of Sales at The NewsMarket, an online media company. He still does freelance work for record labels, writing liner notes for CDs by artists such as The Fixx, Linda Ronstadt, Harry Chapin and The Thompson Twins. His knowledge of '80s new wave is generally considered as "beyond reproach."
